Day tours Nikko

Nikko is famous among Japanese tourist spots not only for the seasonal beauty of its nature, but also for its historic architecture, including the mausoleum of Tokunaga Ieyasu, one of Japan's greatest shoguns. Travel time from Niki Club is approximately 1.5 hours by car, or 2 hours by train. Rich natural vistas greet visitors year-round, including wetlands and highlands covered from spring to summer with colorful mountain flowers, forests inhabited by diverse species of birds, and mountains ablaze with brilliant red foliage in autumn. Also worth visiting are the various temples and other buildings of cultural and historical interest that have been registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Day tours Mashiko

Famous for its mashiko-yaki potteryware, the town of Mashiko is 2.5 hours by car from Niki Club, or 3 hours by train. Mashiko-yaki ware came into being around the end of Japan's Edo period, and became famous worldwide through the efforts of Shoji Hamada, a major activist in the mingei folk-art movement, which seeks to find beauty in everyday objects. The town is currently home to over 400 pottery makers and retailers, with works by up-and-coming young potters and experienced masters alike available for purchase. Pottery fairs are held in spring and autumn every year.
